Dr. Figueroa holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Computer Systems from the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo, as well as a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Chile. Currently, she is a professor and researcher at the Faculty of Physical-Mathematical Sciences at the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo and a member of the National System of Researchers. Her research includes numerous publications with over 860 citations. She served as President of the Mexican Society of Computer Science and is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Komputer Sapiens. Her interests include information retrieval, computer vision, and the development of educational software. She has supervised theses and trained teams for programming competitions.
